Martin Hargrove (Figaro) lyric bass, has performed on stage with Minnesota Opera, Pamiro Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Pennsylvania Opera Theater, Center City Opera, American Opera Projects, Opera Festival of New Jersey, Opera Delaware and the Braunschweig Staatsoper. His roles include Colline in “La Bohème,” Sparafucile in “Rigoletto,” Angelotti in “Tosca,” Masetto and Il Comendatore in “Don Giovanni,” der Sprecher in “Die Zauberflöte,” Cinque Mtume in “Freeze,” Balthazar in “Amah and the Night Visitors,” and most recently Jake in “Porgy and Bess.”
Hargrove appeared with the Newark Symphony & the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival and has toured Ireland, France and U.S. with a choir ensemble specializing in Spirituals based in NYC.
Hargrove’s musical theater credits include the workshop cast of “The Color Purple,” Hal Prince’s Tony Award winning revival of “Showboat,” and the voice of the plant, Audry 2, in “Little Shop of Horrors.” Hargrove began a third engagement with the Newark Symphony having previously sung Alice Parker’s Sermon from the Mountain, and Amonosro in a concert presentation of Aida by Giuseppe Verdi.
