What does my contribution do?

Your contribution gives 10 Soloist Scholarships to choristers in Congo. Selected singers will received voice lessons and learn to sing a solo aria. The name of this pilot program is L’Aria Conservatoire and will take place in Kinshasa, Congo, Africa.

Thank you for coming and painting for OPERAnauts’ opera music work in Congo!And, a special thanks to the artists! And, thanks to Diane Forer, teaching artist, for preparing such a joyful subject to paint – a musical scene in a Congolese village, and for creating such a wonderful event.

The results are in – we received $450. With your generous donations, an in-kind donation, donated supplies and refreshments, 100% of this amount can go to help young musicians and choristers in Congo get the music scores they need to learn, and provide resources for teaching artists to hone their craft.

Thank you for coming and celebrating OPERAnauts’ milestone with a Coffee Tasting at Starbucks! And, thank you to Ivett Heffentrager, store manager and her assistant, Natanael for choosing such delicious coffee and dessert pairings for us to taste, and creating such a wonderful event at Starbucks on Nassau Street.

And, a special thanks to the eleven choristers from the Princeton High School Choir for singing carols to us! You sang so beautifully and warmed our hearts with your harmonies. Thank you for ushering in the holiday spirit of giving for OPERAnauts.

The results are in – with Starbucks’ generous 30% discount, donated coffee and gift baskets, a raffle, and your ticket contribution & donations – we received $300 (after costs)!  Thank you for contributing to help young musicians and choristers in Congo get the music score they need to learn, and provide resources for teaching artists to hone their craft.

This holiday, we can send the full orchestral & choral parts for “Joy to the World” and the “Street Boys Chorus” from La Petite Carmen to the music director of the “Juniors” of the OSK (l’ Orchestre symphonique Kimbanguiste).

Save the Date! This year, OPERAnauts joins the #GivingTuesday movement to connect with our local community at Ten Thousand Villages, in the Princeton Shopping Center in New Jersey. On November 29th from 4 – 8 PM, OPERAnauts volunteers will provide refreshments for guests to enjoy while they shop; and, the store will donate 15% of purchases to OPERAnauts work.

Ten Thousand Villages creates opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term, fair trading relationships.

OPERAnauts connects with this value, and makes a point to provides artisans, especially fabric-makers and seamstresses in Kinshasa, Congo with opportunity in the creation of our opera production costumes.
